World Traveling Intros

Over the course of 8 weeks or so this year I was simultaneously traveling the world while we were launching the Apigee Create and Manage APIs course online. While I was traveling, we got feedback or we'd think of something that we should mention that wasn't in the materials. So, I decided to film a little intro each week.

Just for the record, I really did jump around the globe as much as it looks like in the videos, and I really did record them each week as we launched a new topic. You can see all the content on Apigee at Create and Manage APIs and, just for the heck of it, here are all of my intros in one place.

Week One: Portland Filmed in my kitchen by putting my laptop on a milk crate and using a lamp for extra light. Lots of reflections in my glasses but worked out okay.

Week Two: San Jose We filmed this one with a real camera while I was in San Jose -- you can see how close we are to the San Jose Airport when a plane goes by in the background near the end of the recording.

Week Three: Sweden I had to clear snow off a park bench and then sit down on my rain jacket on the ground. There was some kind of construction going on behind the camera but you barely hear the nail gun.

Week Four: Denver Colorado Traipsing all over the Red Rock Amphitheater trying to find a suitably interesting background far enough away from the loud visitors. Ended up in a field with my suitcase as a prop for my laptop which kind of shows in the odd angle of the filming.

Week Five: San Jose Couldn't do the out the window again, but I thought the coffee was a nice touch.

Week Six: Iceland Ahh… Rugged Iceland… Only I was standing just over the wall from the convention center. I had to record this one a few times because trucks kept going by, but it looks like I'm off in the wilds (and I did rent a car and head off into those mountains the next day).

Conclusion I actually recorded this one around the same time I recorded the first one, it was more of a test to see if I could get something moderately decent with my laptop and microphone. Maybe it's just the beer, but I think it actually is fairly decent.
