Watching Myself

We’re gearing up for the release of the online, self-paced version of the training that I’ve been honing for Apigee for the last year. Rather than face-to-face in a classroom setting delivered in 3 days, we’re putting together dozens of 5-10 minute videos that we will dole out over the course of 7 weeks.
This means that I’ve been in a room at Apigee talking to a couple cameras -- we have the wide angle and the close up, and then there’s the PowerPoint or screen share that we need to cut to. The guy doing the film editing has to understand enough of what I’m talking about to make the cuts make sense, and I need to make sure I don’t sound like I was smoking crack during the filming.
After the videos are processed an uploaded to a private YouTube channel, I plop down on the couch at home and stream them to the big screen. Which is really weird. It took me awhile to get past hearing myself from outside my head and looking at my own face, but I was able to wade through and put some notes together.
And then I realized we didn't do an intro video to the Create and Manage APIs course, so I figured I'd bang one out at home. Problem is… I'm at home. Which means the background, the lighting, and well, everything, is different.
So I embraced the differences and ran with it and made a two minute video that wasn’t really the kind of thing we’ve been doing, but somehow I kinda liked it…

Hope you like it.
